Lots of types of ghouls
- Normal ghouls, bog standard
- Live underground, dig tunnels, etc
- NOT mindless, same range of intelligence as living beings
- Become a ghoul by being bitten or getting ghoul fever
- Retain your memory, but gain an eternal hunger
- Biome based ghouls
- Aquatic, swamp, jungle, etc
- All inflict Ghoul fever
Strengths / Weaknesses
- Weak to Positive Energy, absorb Negative Energy
- But more resistant to Positive Energy than others
- Cause disease that turns into a Ghoul
- Incubation period is one day, show no symptoms
- Then every day you struggle to survive, the stronger you are the longer you last
- Cause paralysis
- Elves are immune (and half-elves)
- Cannot be dispelled/resisted once paralyzed, just takes time
- Retain skills & capabilities from their previous lives
- Exude a disgusting stench that makes you sick to your stomach
There are powerful ghouls called ghasts that arise from more powerful creatures. The paralysis of ghasts does effect elves.
The transformation to a Ghoul can go wrong, turn into a festrog instead
- They are more savage than average ghouls
- Have a harder time controlling their hunger, very feral
- Gain direct sustenance from feeding on the living
- Often covered in pustules that can burst (or they can cause them to burst) to infect their attackers with Filth Fever
